Athletic Fields and Gymnasium

Cate School is situated on a mesa in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountain Range, eleven miles from Santa Barbara.  The school sits on 150 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and the Santa Barbara Coastline – The American Riviera.  The environment is covered with eucalyptus trees, majestic mountains, canyons and has a micro climate with temperatures ranging between 58-82 degrees.  This is a perfect setting for soccer training and summer enjoyment!

Extensive Fields and Outdoor Facilities

Tucker Field – Like Thayer Peck Field, Nion Tucker Field is one of the more versatile on the Mesa. In the fall, Cate’s ultimate frisbee players toss the disc around on it’s well maintained grass. In the winter, the Rams’ soccer teams hit the pitch and defend the Mesa against visiting foes, and in the spring, the lacrosse teams grab their sticks and hit the field. Located adjacent to the school’s main parking area, Tucker Field is often the first field visible to visitors of the Mesa.

Savage Field – This upper field is located just above Tucker Field and runs right next to the Cate Tennis Center. Some of the Cate soccer and lacrosse teams will host games on Savage Field, while other programs use it primarily for practice.

Brittingham Family Athletic Training Center

The Brittingham Family Athletic Training Center is filled some of the latest state of the art training equipment to help heal any injured Ram. Cate’s two full time athletic trainers have their offices here, while two ice large baths and three training tables provide Cate students the facilities they need to get healthy.

Sprague Gymnasium

The Sprague Gym often called the “new gym” accommodates two regulation basketball courts or two regulation volleyball courts. The basketball and volleyball programs make this venue space home for practices and for games. Bleachers can accommodate a huge group of Cate fans wearing white and blue, who cheer, chant, and support our teams.

Dorms

Dorms

Most rooms have either a balcony or a small outdoor space. All dorms come equipped with a bed, mattress, desk, closet, and dresser.

Bathrooms are shared spaces location on each floor of every dorm. All dorm bathrooms have private showers and restroom stalls.

Dining Commons

Dining Commons

The chefs at Booth Commons prepare meals from scratch and buy as much of their produce, meat, and dairy as possible from local farmers. You’ll be pleased with the results, as the food at Cate is delicious and plentiful.

If traditional eggs and bacon aren’t on your breakfast menu, sample the oatmeal and granola or make yourself a waffle with fresh strawberries on top. Sandwiches make a great lunch but there’s a hot food option too, and an inviting salad bar in the center of the room. After athletics, you may need a hearty dinner, which is even tastier when you’re eating with friends.
